The "Old Lady"
This race car will always keep a special place in SEBAH Racing history. The "Old Lady" name came from journalists amazed by the success and victories from this car in front of more recent cars during 2004 and 2005 seasons.
This car is one of the first 996 GT3-R built, based on a Ricardo chassis built in 1999.
The car was purchased from PK Sport in 2001 by SEBAH Racing (SEBAH Automotive) to race in the European Le Mans Series. Chassis number is WPO ZZZ 99 ZYS 692102.
This Porsche GT3-R has been developed and improved by SEBAH to make this car one of the most competitive and successful GT2 Class Porsche’s racing at International level.
The car won the Le Mans Series GT2 Category in 2004 and 2005.
In only 3 Races in 2005 it achieved three First Places to secure the GT2 Title.
The car was offered for sale, race prepared to ACO 2005 Regulations, and quickly sold in march 2006. “She was sold in a week,” says team owner Hugh Hayden. “A Swiss Mercedes dealer, Philipp Zumstein, approached the Porsche factory looking for ‘a good one’, and they pointed him towards me.
“Once we’d passed on the car’s racing history, Philipp’s money arrived almost by return. He’s a very nice guy, and I believe he’ll be using the car in club races, to replace his old 993.”
So an era comes to a conclusion: there are now no longer any of the original GT3-R chassis racing in international endurance events. Hugh Hayden’s “old lady” certainly brought the GT3-R era to an end in style - with a perfect record last year, three out of three. Here she is on the way to the third of those wins, at the Nurburgring.
